Maurizio Galimberti: Polaroid/Ready-Made and the American Lessons of Italo Calvino
From April 10 to August 10, 2025
From April 10 to August 10, 2025, Le Stanze della Fotografia will present the exhibition Maurizio Galimberti tra Polaroid/Ready Made e le Lezioni Americane di Italo Calvino, curated by Denis Curti, on the first floor.
Internationally known for his portraits of stars such as Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro, Johnny Depp, and Umberto Eco, and for creating publications and site-specific exhibitions on New York, Paris, Milan, Rome, and Venice, Maurizio Galimberti will present some of his most iconic Polaroid mosaics in Venice, including Johnny Depp, Barbara Bouchet, and Angelica Huston. The exhibition is divided into six sections: Cenacolo, Storia, Sport, Ritratti, Taylor Swift, and Luoghi.
His creations, characterized by a multifaceted and fragmented vision of reality, are deconstructed and reassembled like a mosaic, offering a profound reflection on perception and the multiplicity of viewpoints. The images are almost always manipulated during the development phase, by applying pressure with simple tools—such as pens and wooden sticks—directly onto the surface of the medium, or by assembling them into mosaic compositions, where each individual shot contributes to forming a final result capable of delivering a spectacular overall vision.
