Useful info for organising the tour of the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the island of San Giorgio

NOTICE: From 5 November 2020 and until further notice, it is possible to visit only the Wood with the Vatican Chapels, an open-air tour in total safety, in compliance with the new anti-Covid regulations

In compliance with the anti-Covid norms, the Foundation proposes a new, wholly open-air itinerary. Every day (except Wednesday),, you can discover the treasures on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore with the guided tour service prepared by the D’Uva company in Florence. It is compulsory to book online in order to comply with the social distancing and safety regulations laid down in the DPCM (government decree) of 03/11/2020

ITINERARIES

From 5 November 2020 / all days (except Wednesday)

In compliance with the covid-19 containment measures, from 5 November the Giorgio Cini Foundation tour with a view of the Borges Labyrinth will be temporarily closed to the public while the Bosco Vatican Chapels remains open to visitors.

The tour gives you the opportunity of visiting the Wood of the Foundation and the Vatican Chapels which were presented to the public during the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. If you choose this tour you can stroll through the wood accompanied by an operator and discover the fascination of the Vatican Chapels, the ten chapels designed by ten international architects, as you listen to the audio guide commentary with the original soundtrack produced specially for this tour.

Prices: €14 full price; €12 reductions (over 65, under 26, residents of the Borough of Venice, students, community service participants, other partnerships)

Meeting point: San Giorgio Café, the café/restaurant of the Island of San Giorgio

Notes:

  • We ask visitors to come to the island equipped with surgical face-masks CE Certificate, which are necessary for accessing some closed areas of the visit; also with their own earbuds.
  • the Labyrinth is not accessible but visible from above, when visiting the rooms of the complex
  • In case of delay, no refunds will be possible but you can join the next tour or another tour, subject to availability

Here are some indications to easily reach the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore. We suggest you download the Chebateo app or visit the website chebateo.it : just enter the stop departure and arrival times and you will have the times without going crazy in the search for the right 'vaporetto'.

BY VAPORETTO

Vaporetto number 2 (red number on the boat) stops at San Giorgio, both for those coming from the Railway (Santa Lucia Station), from Piazzale Roma, from Tronchetto, from Zattere, and for those arriving from San Marco (San Zaccaria stop, pier B)

TRAVEL TIMES

The vaporetto takes: from Ferrovia (45 minutes); from Piazzale Roma (40 minutes); from Tronchetto (35 minutes); from Zattere (13 minutes); from San Zaccaria (3 minutes)
